Grado, or more formally, Grado Labs, makes phono cartridges and headphones. The headphones are a relatively recent addition to its portfolio, dating from the 1990s. It all started with the cartridges way back in 1953.
Grado is one of the rare audio companies which has both been around for a long time and hasn’t been swallowed up by some multinational. And it still hand builds all its products in Brooklyn, New York.
And it doesn’t advertise in the usual way. Instead, it relies on word of mouth.
Grado is still run by the Grado family.
