Raising the Bar Again
Building upon our award-winning TT-4 turntable, we’ve basically kept everything that makes that turntable great and amped everything else up to the next level. As a result, in TT-4 MK2, you get superior dampening completed with a thick rubber layer under the platter and a top-quality pickup in the Ortofon 2M Blue. All this works in tandem with the technology you know and love from the original, to provide lower distortion and a more clear, natural sound. Top it all off with a sleek, vintage-inspired design, and this turntable is guaranteed to add a wow factor to any hi-fi system.
Thorough Construction and Custom Components
A tonearm needs to be both very lightweight and extremely rigid at the same time. Since carbon fibre scores high in both categories, it is pretty much a perfect material for tonearms. To utilise this to its full potential, we’ve also fitted an even better pickup from Danish Ortofon at the end of the arm. The 2M Blue is equipped with a Nude Elliptical needle made entirely of diamond, giving you an extremely clean and open sound.
To complement this great pickup, we’ve pre-fitted the TT-4 MK2 with a high-quality built-in amplifier (MM) that can get the absolute most out of the precise technology. We’ve even custom-designed the built-in amplification to sound way better than anything available at this price point, using high-quality components only. This means that TT-4 MK2 can be used with all amplifiers and active speakers directly – no external phono amplification needed. And don’t worry: when the phono amplifier is turned off, it has no effect on the signal path.
ATS—Anisotropic Torsion Stabilizer
Hey – don’t leave! This ATS stuff sounds technical, but we promise it makes sense. In making the new carbon fibre tonearm, we found that there were some nasty internal resonances and distortions of the arm, that negatively impacted the performance of the stylus when tracking the groove. The good news is that we have solved it!
The trick is simple but brilliant: we make a very small, precise aperture along the underside of the tonearm. This cut does not affect the weight or stiffness of the arm, but it eliminates resonances caused by torsion (bending/curving), which would normally cause unwanted noise and distortion from your speakers. The result: you get the clearest, cleanest sound you have ever heard from a turntable in this price range.
