SME is a precision-engineering audio company based in Sussex, England. Established in 1946 under the name “The Scale Model Equipment Company,” In 1959, SME designed a prototype of a pick-up arm that garnered such positive feedback from the audio industry they decided to manufacture it commercially, launching in September 1959.
The company continued to design precision made parts for the Aircraft, Atomic Energy and Submarine Industries for the next three decades, with their precision engineering expertise and capabilities proven to be highly successful by the 1990s. Today, SME continues to operate as a manufacturer of high-end, precision-made audio equipment and components for Aerospace, Formula 1, and Medical Equipment Industries.
